Scholarship Winners

Class of 2012

The faculty and staff of Northeast Vernon County High School would like to thank all of the persons and organizations who so generously contributed to the scholarships awarded to our 2012 graduates: Fort Scott Community College Endowment, Martha Carrier Memorial, Missouri Southern, John Byron Corbin Charitable Trust, Vernon County Farm Bureau, Ministerial Alliance, Joe Rayburn Memorial, Avon, University of Central Missouri, Joe & Jean Palmer Memorial, University of Missouri, Underhill-Gove Scholarship, The Ellis Foundation, Nevada Rotary Club, Upward Bound TRIO Program, Nevada Chamber of Commerce, Cavener’s Office Supply, Schell City Alumni, NEVC Community Teachers Association, Kirkwood Community College, Cargill Community Scholarship, James A. Lewis Memorial, Walker MFA, Walker Alumni, and the Vernon County Cattlemen’s Association.

With twenty-two students in our graduating class, we are proud to announce they were the well-deserved recipients of approximately $87,000.  Many graduates will begin college, trade school, or military training this fall to pursue careers in physical therapy, education, dental hygiene, agriculture, criminal justice, health care, air traffic control, cosmetology, and welding.

The Northeast Vernon County R-I faculty are proud of the accomplishments of this graduating class and excited about their future.  Our graduates will be attending the University of Missouri, Missouri Southern State University, Pittsburg State University, Fort Scott Community College, University of Central Missouri, Crowder College, Missouri Welding Institute, and Kirkwood Community College in Iowa.  Many of the graduates have expressed interest in returning to live in the Vernon County area which comes as no surprise because of the strong family ties and pride they share in our community.

Again, thank you, to those listed above, for your generosity and faith you have shown in our students’ academic capabilities.  It was especially nice that so many of you were able to join us for the graduation ceremonies to recognize the recipients.  It was a pleasure working with you to make these scholarships possible and we look forward to working with you again in 2013!
